niels 184Niels Meliefste (1979, NL) studied classical percussion at the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague under Wim Vos and Luuk Nagtegaal, and African percussion under Aly n’Diaye Rose.
In 2000, he was awarded second place, public place and the students prize of the TROMP-concours, in 2003 the Jury prize at the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours and in 2005 (with Claire Edwardes as Duo Vertigo) third place of the Internationaal Gaudeamus Vertolkers Concours.
Niels is a member of Anumadutchi and from 2006 on of The Hague Percussion. Furthermore, he played with the Asko|Schönberg Ensemble, Radio Kamerorkest, Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt) and Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie (Bremen). With cellist Annie Tangberg he set up Duo Percucello.
